Alphacolor integrates and automates their labels and tags production with Metrics Technology

 

Alphacolor, one of the most traditional printing companies in the labels segment and self adhesive labels in the country, is intensifying the alignment and production processes automation and business managing with Metrics Information Systems Technology. The goal is to ensure the constant increase in productivity and activities rationalization by eliminating non-productive tasks in the factory and administrative sectors.

With this operation, Alphacolor aims to anchor their current growth rate (greater than 38% over last year) and ensure efficient management to grow as a bigger impression shrink films, an area where the company is joining with the ambition to become one of the most important competitor.

The company started about two years, the Metrics management tools adoption by automating tasks in the commercial and customer service. According to Cristiano Zuca, Alphacolor Information manager, until the time of adoption of the Metrics platform in mid-2009, all business processes were accompanied by direction from Excel spreadsheets. These tools, he says, documented in reasonable way the day to the company, but did not guarantee the accuracy and agility required by the business vision of the directors. "Our general partner and director, Roberto Genioli, was increasingly unhappy that he needed to wait several days for a detailed production map to study the new applications impacts on the plant performance, the plausible timing of delivery and inputs stocks”, said Zuca.
In seeking solutions to the problem, the operating director Helio Tunchel asked Metrics to present their integrated management tools, initially for the company commercial sector. With the implementation, it became possible to standardize and centralize the company customer base in order to optimize the estimate tasks, requests and monitoring flows of customers with their jobs, satisfaction levels and activity. 
With the commercial area automating, continues Cristiano Zuca, the Alphacolor could quickly organize the services flow and scale aspects such as resource allocation, planning costs, pricing policies and forecasts on cash flow. 
As early as 2010, Alphacolor started the integration of these areas with the planning and production control, and adopted a Metrics tools group to automate programming tasks and monitoring the machines activities.
Among the solutions implemented, Alphacolor feature Metrics Jobtrack, a tool for production control that allows you to monitor the equipment’s operation and distribute accurate information in real time, about the amount produced, operating times and equipment halts. 
"The production appointment, before fully isolated and manually, became, thereafter, a quick task that make available and direct information, so that everyone involved in sales, purchasing and production to meet current and future status of each cell production factory, "continues Zuca.

:In the evaluation of the executive, beyond disseminate information about the processes for all business managers and Alphacolor agents, Metrics management environment provides strategic information about the raw materials expenses, operator performance and efficiency levels in customer relationship.

"Along  2010, we intensified the planning tools adoption that enable to define processes that more economics for each batch to be produced, as well as choose the ideal moment for scheduled maintenance and stocks replacement," exemplifies the coach.

With around 110 employees working at their unit in Barueri (SP), Alphacolor is today one of the leading in high quality labels and tags for highly demanding sectors such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and food, says commercial partner director Flavio Andrade.

Production of over 5 million square meters of printed paper per year is held under strict control requirements, including standards like ISO and GMP. In addition to printing perfection and logistics, the Alphacolor customers require the details observation such as the waste controlled disposal (critical medicines packaging, for example) and even on the levels of the plant sterilization.

According to Cristiano Zuca the need for controls strengthened, along the company direction, the management model requirement  that offers formal and detailed knowledge of each process step, allowing your disciplining.

"One of the integration model advantages brought by Metrics to Alphacolor is just to propitiate our staff in providing a roadmap for the practical and objective description of each processes involved in our business. Thus, our management vision is now fully adjusted to the guidelines for growth, "he adds.

With these new control standards, Alphacolor is able not only to continue advancing in your expertise niche, but also to continue with full force, a new diversification operation in the segment of low and medium runs.

Recently, the company acquired a HP digital equipment arsenal, and now proposal the market a range of products in films shrink that opens new prospects for profitability and flexibility of offer.

"Having integrated processes and accuracy measures has been a highly facilitative condition for these new business decisions," concluded the manager Alphacolor.

He said the company's next step will be the procedures adoption for automatic pointing - to process information extracted directly from the machines - with the Metrics use new platform features.

"By the end of the year we are also ready to adopt the post-calculation methodology, which will become apparent to us all the efficiency points and need for adjustments in the production and costs strategic planning," concludes Cristiano Zuca.
